LRA stand for Loudness Range average and is a measurement of the change between two a soft and loud part of a program. The best real life example of this is when you are watching television and all of a sudden the volume jumps up or goes down very quickly. The change when that happens is measured by using LRA to show the difference in change. Those types of changes have become real big issues with television viewers and this measurement is useful in detecting the change and trying to fix those problems.
