Panning Definition - What is Panning?

Panning refers to the process where a sound signal is adjusted in strength between different audio channels. The simplest explanation of the term panning can be described as the process by which the direction of the audio signal is maneuvered from one channel to another, such as when you tune your car stereo to adjust the mix more to the front or back, or the left or right.
