Pop filter

Pop filter Definition - What is a Pop filter?

A pop filter is a noise reduction device or a noise protection filter. A pop filter is usually placed over a microphone in a recording studio and will reduce or eliminate any popping sounds that could be recorded from the audio. The filter serves a secondary roll by protecting the equipment from spit and/or mold that may grow after a long time of use. The popping sounds come during some English words and really are a natural thing and this filter really works well to eliminate those from an audio recording.
